A resume has only one purpose, to get you an interview.
A traditional job search mistake is only preparing a resume when you are forced to look for a new job. We recommend updating your history at least every six (6) months.
You need to create a compelling reason for a company to call you for a phone interview or bring you in for a face-to-face meeting. If you can’t do this your resume will end up in the stack with all the other typical file 13 resumes that have inundated the decision maker or screener.
The traditional resume is designed to communicate history and features, not benefits and successes. This style of resume has been used for decades and probably centuries. It is out of date and completely ineffective in a highly competitive market.
